Who we are......by Kandi

Who we are...... by Kandi

It was my desire to have a coffee roasting business in Ligonier Valley for many years. I discovered a transportable roaster and knew that “now was the time”. My partner, Dave was crazy enough to agree to the idea and “so it began”. Our business was established in June, 2010

We ordered the roaster, made with all U.S.A. parts, from a small company out west, traveling nine days round trip to pick it up. It was quite the adventure--- as I’m sure the business will be too.

Our intention is to offer quality coffee that is fresh roasted. This makes all the difference in taste, as our increasing number of coffee “fans” can attest to. To maintain peak freshness, the beans are roasted after they are ordered.

Since our first event, Back to the Garden Market, “just down the road” from us, we’ve brewed and sold coffee at many festivals and markets. Along with purchasing direct from us….our coffee is sold at various other businesses from Rector to Pittsburgh with more in the works. A list is posted. Other businesses have expressed interest and we are receiving a lot of phone and e-mail orders. The positive response is very encouraging.

We hope that once you try our coffee you’ll taste the difference too and become a valued customer and friend as well!!

Something interesting in Cooking Light magazine!

As a reminder:
If you want Old Linn Run’s fresh roasted coffee beans,
you need to order
in advance  to allow time for roasting
(processing payments and shipping if it applies).
We do not have an inventory of roasted beans.
We want to ensure freshness by roasting the beans as close to the day
that you receive them, as is possible.

Coffee....is good for you!

February 17th is National Cafe Au Lait day!
It seems there is a day to celebrate anything and everything.

Café au lait
(French for "coffee with milk")
is a French coffee drink.

"Cafe au lait is simply strongly brewed coffee or espresso mixed with
hot or scalded milk in a 1:1 ratio.”

My favorite way to enjoy our coffee:
Heat cream   ( I use organic vanilla creamer) in a mug
Froth with the Aerolatte Mooo milk frother
Add coffee
Sprinkle organic cinnamon on top
  C’est Magnifique!

I love this!!!

Coffee....is good for you!

Here it is, Thursday and posting another tidbit of info about the beloved bean and caffeine.
Coffee and Green Tea Slows Aging.
More good news for people who can’t get by without their daily coffee or tea fix:
These beverages may keep you young (not just at heart). According to recent research, coffee and tea could protect your DNA from oxidation, which makes you more susceptible to disease and premature aging. In the study, people who drank 800 ml (approx 3 1/2 cups) of coffee a day for five days had a reduced DNA-oxidation rate. Oxidation levels for water drinkers stayed about the same. Green tea showed similar health benefits in a Hong Kong study resulting in “younger DNA” and possibly adding as many as five years to their lives.   Delicious Living February 2011

Coffee Scrubs!
A coffee body scrub is so much more beneficial than the everyday scrub. This information was provided by CancerLynx.
  1. No more cellulite. While coffee is wonderful for many reasons, it is actually the caffeine it contains that provides the added health benefits as a scrub. When coffee is applied to the surface of your skin, it helps redistribute fat cells and decrease the formation of cellulite.
  2. Problems with varicose veins. Many people accept varicose veins as a necessary evil--either as a sign of getting older or a predisposition inherited from Mom or Dad. Now with a coffee body scrub skin care routine, you may be able to prevent varicose veins or even make them vanish! The caffeine in a coffee scrub acts as a vascular restrictor--shrinking blood vessels, thus helping to reduce varicose veins
  3.  It has been used for years in spas in Hawaii and on the coast of Bali.

**We have coffee scrub mixes  for sale. Just add your own choice of oil when you are ready to use it, to maintain freshness!
