Who we are......by Kandi

Who we are...... by Kandi

It was my desire to have a coffee roasting business in Ligonier Valley for many years. I discovered a transportable roaster and knew that “now was the time”. My partner, Dave was crazy enough to agree to the idea and “so it began”. Our business was established in June, 2010

We ordered the roaster, made with all U.S.A. parts, from a small company out west, traveling nine days round trip to pick it up. It was quite the adventure--- as I’m sure the business will be too.

Our intention is to offer quality coffee that is fresh roasted. This makes all the difference in taste, as our increasing number of coffee “fans” can attest to. To maintain peak freshness, the beans are roasted after they are ordered.

Since our first event, Back to the Garden Market, “just down the road” from us, we’ve brewed and sold coffee at many festivals and markets. Along with purchasing direct from us….our coffee is sold at various other businesses from Rector to Pittsburgh with more in the works. A list is posted. Other businesses have expressed interest and we are receiving a lot of phone and e-mail orders. The positive response is very encouraging.

We hope that once you try our coffee you’ll taste the difference too and become a valued customer and friend as well!!

Abandoning this blog for awhile..... using facebook

To my one and only follower. Thanks Jody...... I'm sure you figured it out that I've abandoned this blog. With facebook, this seems more difficult for people to access. For now I'm signing off. Thanks again! Kandi

Labor Day Weekend

Have been a bad girl......neglecting the blog. Sorry!
We've been busy trying to get this business up and running well.

Last Saturday we were at the Tomato Festival @ West Overton Museum. Had fun, met lots of nice people and received a lot of great reviews with our coffee!

This Saturday & Sunday-Labor Day weekend, we will be at Music in the Mountains @ Ohiopyle.
Our coffee is being retailed on the shelves + brewed at Backyard Gardens @ Ohiopyle as well.
Yeah!

We will also be at the Flax Scutching Festival, Stahlstown Sept. 11& 12
and

Sept. 18th, we are in the works with donating our coffee to be served at the Loyalhanna Watershed annual benefit.

Hope to see some of our friends at any or all of these!

New!

Just arrived! 6 oz. bags. We are now selling 6 oz bags of beans for those who do not need 12 oz. at a time. They are great for gifts as well! I've sold several already and Dave's latest roast hasn't been "bagged" yet. I will be delivering them asap to our new customers sunbathing at Ligonier Beach.

Thank you for your orders you Sun Gods and Goddesses :-)

Big accomplishment!

My Mother called in the am to ask if we had any more coffee. They were out.
The accomplishment? My Mom, Dad and Grandmother are Maxwell House users with Dunkin Donuts as the splurge. Apparently they ran out, brewed the Dunkin' Donuts and did not like it anymore. My 93 year old grandmother wrinkled her nose and asked Mom where the coffee came from. Now that's a testimonial for me. Mom says "there isn't any bitter after taste" with our coffee. She's starting to sound like a cupping expert.

Bring a musical instrument: there is music all day !

Colleen has her delicious ice cream van there.
There is always local produce from various farms
Barb and Joy are there to sell organic herbs, produce, baked goods and other "green products" not to mention Joy's Bella Hoops.

Pat and Barb have Friendship Farms beef burgers + corn etc on the grill too. Very tasty!!!
Here is Dave, the Master Roaster, showing off his skills roasting some organic Sumatra coffee beans. Below that is a photo of our Old Linn Run Roastery tent with bags of fresh roasted coffee beans, iced and hot coffee + more. Just to let you know....we're trying to be as "green" also. Our coffee is organically grown, the creamer, cinnamon is too + we have raw brown sugar, stevia and agave nectar for sweetening. We also use ecotainer coffee cups etc.
We are waiting for the arrival of a new bean to try. Brazilian Bobolink beans from a group of farmers that are growing organic, shade grown beans in a sustainable way to protect the bobolink bird and everything other flora and fauna surrounding them. We hope you will try it also!

thanks

Thanks very much to my one and only follower!!! It's appreciated. Think I'll ever get all the photos from the roadtrip on? I'm trying.
